East Bay Connexions for Singles
East Bay Connexions for Singles, Friday, August 1st, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM, The Terrace Room, Lake Merritt Hotel / Barbary Lane, Oakland, Presented by Betty's List with Lavender Liaisons. Connexions produces a unique three-hour event with four segments where singles mingle, share in activities, enjoy wine tasting, door prizes and more. Along the way, we discovered the partnership with Susan Adams and Lavender Liaisons . . . or to give credit where it's due, we should say that Susan discovered us, so after two years on her mission, 'twas thus . . .And, yes, you can invite Singles to join us who have not attended a previous Connexions event. Pride is not over just yet....
Monterey's Pride Festival
Monterey's Pride Festival, Saturday, July 12 from 11 AM - 7 PM at the Monterey County Fairgrounds. The Festival is produced by Pride of Monterey County. The Pride Festival is an outdoor celebration featuring information booths, vendors, food, games, concert entertainment, dancing, and a bounce house and face painting for the kids (or the kid in all of us). We've added a touch of creativity to our entertainment lineup and have hired a variety of performers to come, bands, comedians, dancers, and even a theatre troupe. Dogs on leash are welcome too. The Festival is a drug-free event, welcoming the GLBT community as well as families, friends and supporters.

We'll share some of MECCA's famous French Fries, and you can order cocktails from the gorgeous circular bar or the attending lounge waiter. The Meet / Greet ends at 7:00 PM, but stay as long as you wish and don't miss Karen Soo Hoo performing a bit later in the evening. Questions? Annual Rio Del Mar Beach Bonfire
The DeFrank Social Committee is proud to invite all members, families, and allies of the LGBT Community to come get some sand between your toes while spending an evening around the bonfire! Our annual beach bonfire at Rio Del Mar is just south of Santa Cruz and welcomes everyone including our well-behaved dogs on leash's! We will be providing the wood for our "family" Bonfire, some bottled water, and the fix'in's for S' mores to be shared with all. Please bring any and all picnic garb you'd like to enjoy. Like your own food, drinks, coolers, blankets, chairs, flashlight, frisbees, etc& Anything you want for spending an evening at the beach with your new and old friends. Please remember due to State Beach Regulations, this event is alcohol free. All proceeds/donations go to support the DeFrank Center. Please check in to get your wristband upon arrival.

Friday Music Night at Dolores Park Café - July 2008. The weekly music night on Fridays at this popular neighborhood sidewalk café began years ago as just a good idea that café regulars might enjoy. -OAW (Outdoor Adventures for Women) Hike, Saturday, July 26th, Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve (overlooking Half Moon Bay)
10:15 AM Meet for carpooling at the Edgewood Rd Park and Ride (Redwood City) on 280
11:00 AM Meet at trailhead
The hike is 9.1 miles. We plan to go up Whitmore Gulch to North Rim over to Soda Gulch and Purisima Creek trail back to parking lot. Estimated time will be at least 3.5 hrs. The hike is beautiful with coastal redwoods and views of the ocean. Bring lunch, liquids and layers as you never know on the coast. Kayaking
-Our Women's Kayak Camping Adventure at Loon Lake is scheduled for July 17th-20th, 2008, (Thursday -Sunday). On the western edge of Desolation Wilderness near Tahoe, Loon Lake is a beautiful destination to explore by sea kayak. Join us for this great weekend with women! Snow capped peaks, easy paddling, yummy food, cool swims and warm granite rocks to bask on afterwards! Cost includes: 4 days of sea kayaking, instruction in kayaking and low impact camping, permits and food (3 breakfasts, 4 lunches, 3 dinners). We throw in a great bunch of women too! Open to all women including those who have never kayaked or camped....let our guides take care of the camping details! -Coast Redwood Kayak and Barbecue for Women July 26th 10:00 AM -4:00 PM. Beginners are always welcomed. Tucked away in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Loch Lomond Reservoir offers a refreshing summer retreat to explore by sea kayak. Join us as we paddle below towering redwoods and search for Osprey, Kingfishers, Great Blue Herons, Deer and other mountain residents. After kayaking, we'll set up the barbecue near the lake's shore so bring something to grill and drink. We'll supply snacks and salads. More info at Blue Ventures.
